The sun is out, the weather's great, and the vibes are good. Want to keep those vibes up? One of the best ways to do that is to go on a picnic! Here are 6 great spots to go on a picnic in Northern Alberta (in no particular order).
Head to the plateau at Lions’ Park, overlooking the river, in Athabasca. The city is surrounded by a vast boreal wilderness, worthy of an adventure. Enjoy the open space as you soak up the views while you chow down on your perfect picnic.
A perfect #Athabasca weekend includes a stroll downtown, a wilderness retreat only accessible by boat, and a sunset picnic at #LionsPark.https://t.co/k94flzorZh - @outdoorsinsider#TakeItToTheLake— ZenSeekers (@ZenSeekers) July 24, 2019

Although Fort McMurray is most famous as an Alberta Oil Sands city, as well as for the devastating forest fires of 2016 that caused the entire city to be evacuated, there is so much more to this northern Alberta city. Enjoy the outdoors and nature with a walk down Birchwood Trails.
4) Lac La Biche
It’s not every day you can paddle your way around history. But you can in Lac La Biche County, home to one of Canada’s most unique provincial parks, Sir Winston Churchill Park, Alberta’s only campground that is on an island. Grab a snack and enjoy an epic picnic in the area.

5) Cold Lake
Head to Cold Lake Provincial Park for an incredible picnic. Enjoy a day use area with picnic tables, fireplaces, and a playground for the kids. Spend the afternoon enjoying several trails and taking in scenic views of the lake.
Vermilion is the perfect spot for a picnic. Enjoy amazing views while you discover Vermilion Provincial Park. Make sure to stop in downtown and check out the new Copper Cork Distillery while you're in the area.
