Bonaparte First Nation/Cache Creek, BC - The road less travelled; it’s where I like to drive, discover new routes, and home to new destinations.

There is a road trip waiting North of the Sea to Sky Highway. It will take you on a drive less travelled and the ability to travel back in time.

The Historic Hat Creek Ranch is tucked up back of Whistler - en route to Cache Creek. Hat’s off to Bonaparte First Nation who took over management of the site as of May 1, 2024.

It’s any Zen seekers chance to ride shotgun and experience how Indigenous communities use tourism for good.

If you are looking to up your country game, The Historic Hat Creek Ranch has just the ticket

The Hat Creek Ranch offers road trippers the ability to head back to a time when horsepower was defined by how many horses you had pulling your wagon.

Meet with characters and those home to the attraction who will educate and transport you to gold rush days of the 1800's. Bonaparte’s commitment is to weave in more indigenous perspective, and take you back thousands of years.

We at ZenSeekers love a great trip – and here is why this road trip should be on your radar, given the thrilling drive it comes with:

Leave out from Horseshoe Bay to drive the world-famous Sea to Sky Highway.

  • Out of Horseshoe Bay – fuel up on lunch at the Olive & Anchor, or legendary Troll’s Fish & Chips.
  • Skip right up to Pemberton – fuel up at Mount Currie Coffee, or Fish and Rice, Sushi and Beyond!
  • Get back in gear, as this is where the real driving fun begins – the road between Pemby and Lillooet features canyon drops, switchbacks and beautiful lakes on every corner.
  • Continue out of Lillooet on Highway 99 for some spectacular views, with the train and the river valley dancing with your mind as you move along the impressive roadway…I challenge you not to say “wow” less than five times over this two-hour section of pavement.
  • Arrive at Hat Creek Ranch basecamp. Check-in to stay, and explore the Ranch, but also head just down the road to the McAbee Fossile Beds Heritage Site, home to Jurassic throwbacks, with indigenous interpreters on-site with facts that will challenge the mind.
