Getting To Medicine Hat
Drive from Calgary: It’s about a three-hour drive south on the Trans-Canada Hwy/AB-1.
Drive from Edmonton: It’s about a 5 ½-hour drive south on the AB-36 S.
Drive from Regina: It’s about a 4 ½-hour drive west on the Trans-Canada Hwy/SK-1 W.
Morning – Start your morning at the Zucchini Blossom Market and Café
Get a leisurely start to the day at The Zucchini Blossom Market and Café. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the outdoor patio under the cottonwood trees while you plan the rest of your day.
Mid-morning – Cruise around town on a bicycle
After fueling up at the café, hop on a bike from the town’s Borrow-A-Bike Program and explore. Visit the historic Finlay Bridge, ride along the Devonian Trail and make sure to stop and snap some photos of the river.
Or, rent a kayak to paddle down the South Saskatchewan River. This is a favourite summer activity among locals.
Lunch – Discover a local favourite, the Heartwood Café
After a morning of biking or kayaking, you will definitely want to check out the delicious menu at Heartwood Café – a bright and happy retro eatery. The café is located in an old-fashioned brick building on the historic North Railway Street and is a favourite among locals.
Mid-afternoon – Continue on your bike tour and get a history lesson at Medalta Potteries
Head out on the Seven Person Creek Trail and over to Medalta Potteries. The former factory is now a museum, art gallery, and pottery facility. In the 1900s the factory was the largest production centre for clay and pottery wares.
Evening
Spend your evening tasting craft beer at one of these awesome breweries.
