From Kimberley, head out on one of the many trails the Cranbrook Community Forest has to explore. The area is 2000-hectare protected forest on crown land beautifully surrounded by Ponderosa pine trees and fragrant wildflowers. Choose from over 20 trails with various levels of difficulty. Check out Eager Hill, a popular choice among locals with several trails inspired by Star Wars characters like Ewok and Roll and Chewbacca Rocka.

Lunch – Fuel up at Heidout Restaurant and Brewhouse

After an action-packed morning, head to downtown Cranbrook for lunch. Checkout Heidout Restaurant and Brewhouse, featuring the locally-owned Fisher Peak brewing. The menu features dishes made with fresh Kootenay produce and a wide selection of craft beers brewed on site.

Late-afternoon – Hike and explore Sylvan Lake

After filling up on good food, head back out into the Community Forest to explore the Sylvan Lake region. Begin your hike at the Lower Baker Road Trailhead and head on to Meander Trail, an aptly named trail with plenty of opportunities to hike at a leisurely pace and glimpse the many Douglas Firs, meadows, tall grasses, and flowers in the area. End your hike at the scenic Alkali Lake, home to many shorebirds and ducks.
